Bamboo's Amazing Natural Properties:

- naturally wicking
- environmentally sustainable
- super-soft

First, let's talk about softness, the most important thing to newly-nursing nipples!

Almost nothing compares with the softness of bamboo.  One of our bamboobies customers compares it with cashmere, but that's not quite all...

You really have to feel it and see it through a microscope to believe it!  Because its fibers are round on a microscopic scale rather than flat, it rests closer to the skin than most fibers, making it 'feel' softer.   The micro-structure also has unique gaps that allow for greater breath-ability and moisture absorption - two features highly desired by nursing mothers.

Bamboo is a sustainable crop as it does not claim farming land, grows very fast and needs minimal care and no chemical pesticides or herbicides.  It is a much better CO2 extractor and oxygen-emitter than trees and bamboo products are biodegradable and recyclable.

Our bamboo fabrics are made with both bamboo fibers and pulp and are Certified Organic. Our bamboo fabric is certified free of harmful substances by Oeko-tex Standard 100.  In addition, our fabrics meet International Restricted Substance Limits standards.  We have been working closely with our suppliers to produce fabrics in an ecologically responsible manner with minimal environmental impact.  At the factories where the fabric is made, the extraction and renewal treatments for wastewater and exhaust emissions are carefully controlled and worker-safety is held to a high standard.

Organic Cotton and Bamboo are blended to create the soft velour of the regular bamboobies and the fleece on the outside of the overnights.

Soy is the new ‘veggie cashmere!’

Most of the time soy fiber is a waste product of soybean oil and tofu manufacturing ... but, once in a while, a savvy textile manufacturer reclaims this food by-product for an innovative new fabric blend.

Soy is more breathable, absorbent and durable than cotton and is naturally anti-microbial and UV protective.  Like silk, it is softer than cotton and longer-lasting. It dries quickly, doesn’t wrinkle as easily and feels luxuriously comfortable.

Soy fibers do not require any toxic bleaching or toxic chemicals to process and our soy blends are non-GMO.  Soy fibers are ideal for garments as they ‘close the loop’ on manufacturing waste.

Soy and Organic Cotton blends are found in our jersey Butterfly Wraps.

Hemp: the most sustainable and versatile plant on earth!

Hemp is considered 'naturally organic' because it does not exhaust the soil, uses little water, and requires no pesticides or herbicides.

With high moisture absorbency -- four times that of cotton -- and high heat conductivity, it is well suited to line breast pads. Hemp is famous for ‘wearing in – not out!’ as it softens with each wash.

Hemp and organic cotton blends are found in the inner core of all of our bamboobies products because of hemp's amazing absorbing properties.

BEYOND Organic

Our fabric producers meet the Global Organic Textile Standards or are certified annually by OEKO Tex 100, OCIA or USDA.

We go 'Beyond Organic' to ensure that fibers are not treated with toxic chemicals and that only water-based dyes are used.
