Nipple Balm vs. Pumping Lubricant: A Tale of Two Boob-Savers

There’s no nice way to say what we’re about to say, so we’re just going to come out with it: your nipples get pretty battered during breastfeeding and pumping. If you’re preparing for your nursing or breast pumping journey, someone has probably told you about their favorite nipple cream or balm to help with dry, cracked nipples in the early days of breastfeeding; or maybe they’ve told you about the easiest coconut oils to dig into for those sticky pump flange times.

We’re here to tell you...there IS a better way, mama! In fact...we’ve got two better ways for you, specifically formulated for your new mom nipples AND your experienced breasts. That’s right - the land of choice is all here (and it’s affordable!)

New moms love our boob-ease 100% Organic Nipple Balm for so many reasons! For starters, this nipple balm is just that - a balm! There are five ingredients and we promise you can name them all: extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, shea butter, marshmallow root, and calendula flower. That’s it. That’s all.

There’s an ingredient missing from this nipple balm that you may have seen in loads of other nipple products - lanolin. We specifically created this nipple balm to be soothing and safe for mom and baby with food-grade organic ingredients.

After creating our 100% Organic Nipple Balm, we heard mamas were loving it but it was a bit too thick to apply for pumping needs. Plus, digging hands into a tub of coconut oil isn’t the easiest or most sanitary…

Enter boob-ease Organic Pumping Lubricant! Another lanolin-free organic option for mama, and this time with a super easy contoured applicator tip to put directly on the areola OR the pump flange. The convenient tube is easy and portable and helps to reduce friction for more comfortable pumping.

Did your lactation consultant recommend a lubricant for easier pumping? We have a hunch they may support it - this “boob lube” is exactly what we think you’ll love!

So what’s the difference between these two slippery, lubricating products? Don’t they both work to increase comfortability with new mom nipples and make the acts of breastfeeding and pumping easier? Can’t I just interchange them?

We’re absolutely team “you do you” here at bamboobies, but here’s why our founder, Kerry, created the two different products:

Breastfeeding is a different act than pumping. Your body reacts differently - from baby’s latch and the science between those shared fluids to your pump and its ability to change suction that differs from baby’s latch, there’s a lot that changes from baby nursing to your pump working its hardest! Just like the two acts are different, our two products work differently.

Our 100% Organic Nipple Balm has soothing, healing products meant to work with your body during those first weeks of breastfeeding when your nipples are at their most tender and most in need of help. On the other hand, our Organic Pumping Lubricant works to make your flange connect to your breast to create a strong and comfortable suction, perfect for pumping mamas without time to waste adjusting their flanges. Whichever you choose, we think your new mom nipples will thank you!
